Can you use regular worm gear hose clamps with stainless steel braided hose?

Anybody have good bad stories to share about doing this?

I want to redo my tranny cooler lines, but the B&M cooler has barbed fittings.

Just thought of another question, will any of the -AN size hose fit the 3/8" barb well enough?

when i did mine i saw some of the bradied line being used with clamps

but i ran mine with the flare to -6an adatpers, and used the stuff that came with the cooler.

Scott,

hose clamps work. You can even get the ones with the fake 'anodized aluminum hose end' look :D , although they actually don't clamp very well, better to use a bigger hose clamp size.

Some of the stacked plate coolers out there have 1/2" female NPT ports; you can get a -AN to NPT adapter...

IIRC #6 hose should fit. I've done my tranny cooler plumbing in #6 hose and -AN fittings, including bulkheads thru the rad support.

I wish now I'd had the foresight to get the cooler with 1/2" NPT fittings. I did the engine cooler that way so it can done with stainless steel braided lines. I'll use the hose clamps for now.

Micheal, I like the use of bulkhead connectors through the radiator support. Bet that looks nice and clean. Unlike all the rubber hoses I have poking through miscellanous holes and lying all over.
