What do you guys use to get stains up?
I blew a power steering high pressure line and had to take it down and make on up at
a hydraulic place and it made a bloody mess. Part is on asphalt part on concrete.

I got degreaser right away and sprayed it down and tried to make not such a mess.
All that did was spread it around. I want to clean it and my oil spots up.
any suggestions? tried purple power ,Zep, awesome degreaser. None worked.

I wipe up the oil, then use mineral spirits with a parts cleaning brush to dissolve whats left, then use the real fine oil dri quick sorb to soak it up. Doesn't get the stain out completely, but it gets the oil out. The longer you wait the worse it is to get out.

the one out front on asphalt is old, the one in garage just did not want to come clean

Broom some dry portland cement on the oil stain...just keep working it in.

from a guy who does sealer work on asphalt ...... the faster you can blue basic dawn dish soap on some water and scrub .

if to long they have products for asphalt to seal it over before sealer goes down and it works . i can go in to detail more if needed .

mineral spirit cleaned the concrete pretty good, need to pick some more up
going to get a scrubber today for the floor

When I worked for a contractor we had a job on a city street and we had a spill of oil and paint, we were scrubbing for days when a guy pulled over and asked if we wanted something to make the job easier and gave us a gallon to use.
It was like magic.
Brush it on wait a couple of minutes then scrubbing it away with a bristle bush.
It was an Orange based cleaner, smelled great and was gentle on the skin no gloves needed.
Now there plenty of those commercial grade orange cleaners.
Do a search in your area.
I still have a small bottle of it and have used it on asphalt and concrete, as well as wood

This might be a little too harsh of a chemical but I’ve found that Toluene works great at removing damn near ANY stain from whatever it touches.
Ya’ don’t really want to breathe it in or get it on your skin because it ain’t the stuff that plays well with living things .
We use to use it as a parts washer cleaning solution and it was AMAZING!

For concrete stains we would soak an old T-shirt in it and lay it flat directly over the area for a few hours making sure to add more onto the T-shirt as needed because it evaporates in no time - end results are impressive.

Just remember that there’s a reason why it works so well and that’s the same reason why it’s so bad for your body.

I've found brakecleen to work fairly well on concrete, my wife gives me hell if I leave stains in front of the garage...

Asphalt is easy ...there are dedicated asphalt / oil removers ( strong bases).. pour on + scrub the area with a nylon brush... Keep putting the cleaner to the area + scrub. . flush em with clean water.
A steam cleaner will do wonders. Yes, I have one

Concrete is harder as the oil permeats the surface ..

Fine saw dust works great for absorbing oil out of surface ..

Strong degreaser chemicals ,+ scrub brush. Vacuum up everything, chemicals, hot water rinse.

Polished floors are precarious... Wipe them down with Lacquer Thinner + clean rags... That's what I normally use.

Muriatic acid will clean a rough floor . Again, vacuum up everything .. the idea is to pick up the oil, not spread it around.

Commercial epoxy sealers call for a wash & an acid etch... It does work well.

Rough + nasty can be polished & sealed....they look great.

Cheaper budget, DIY epoxy floor sealer kit

Wood fireplace ashes. Let them sit for a few hours. Repeat if necessary.
I'll have to try this. I use sawdust because I'm always making it, but it's really only good for bulk soak up, not getting the marks off the cement. I dump dozens of gallons of wood ash in the woods or garden every year.

Same. I try to make it really fine and work it in with a bristle broom. The guy in this YouTube video is working with new concrete and seems to have a pretty good technique too. Though, never tried it myself.

Concrete, I usually get some dawn on there and scrub. Clean up w/ a power washer. My gas powered one will tear up my concrete, so the right pressure helps.

I cant help on asphalt, I usually just leave it.. lol

On concrete I use a combo of sand, sawdust, wood ash, floor sweepings. I pour a bit of gas on the spot, cover it with the mixture from the bucket and let it sit a while. Sweep it up, dump in the fire pit and light it (carefully!) to burn off oil then scoop it back into the bucket when its cool to use next time. Add any new fine dust whenever I sweep again.

I’ve been using cheap cat litter for years. I grind it into the floor after a couple hours of it soaking it up. Takes the stain away as you grind it in. Not sure what your floors lol like but it gets it all up and takes care of the stain once you sweep it up. Works like dry sweep but a much cheaper alternative. On a finished surface or sealed I’ve used simple green and a scrubber then sprayed it out of the garage with a hose.

I had cat litter and it left a dark stain and I was asked to try and get it up.
I put it on right away and stomped scrubbed and then cleaned up.
