The basics: 1982 GMC Jimmy w/ the 6.2, 700R4 and the 208. Just about everything of the long block is new (injectors, both pumps, K&N air cleaner) and the heads were gone through by a good machine shop 1000 miles or so ago.

The pump does need to be turned down some; lots of smoke there (only black, thankfully).

Oaky. today, some dumbass more interested in his phone than the road stopped short in front of me. Smoked tires and everything. In my own hard brake to keep from making his POS econobox part of my bumper, my truck stalled.

What would make my engine stall after a very hard brake? New pads, shoes rotors and drums. The rest is old.

Thanks

Maybe the idle is a little low.If you have hydro boost brakes it would cause a big strain on the power steering pump because your holding the brakes with all you power.

That makes sense. Why don't diesels make their own vacuum that way gassers do? I think that my idle is a little high, actually, but that could be due to the injector pump running a little fat.

Diesels don't have a throttle at all...without that restriction there can be no vacuum. Hell, they'll run just fine without an intake manifold...it's really only there to provide a mount for the air cleaner, and an EGR for the 'C' code version.

Could also be torque convertor didn't get a chance to unlock fully due to the suddeness of the stop...
