My 1970 K5 Blazer has started a new hiccup. When I come to a sudden or quick stop, she dies like turning of the ignition. Before I take it to the garage, what might be the problem? It's so hard to find someone competent to work on my Lilith.:dunno:

I'd guess some sort of issue with a brake booster or carb issues.

Not much info to go on..dont know what engine size, automatic or standard trans,etc..

Maybe it has an idle stop solenoid on the carb,I dont remember what year those came about...if it failed or loses power,it'll let the throttle close completely and stall it,since it sets the curb idle speed..or it could be 100 other things...

Does it stumble then die? Or just die. When my ignition switch went bad any movement of the key would shut off the engine. Stock ignition or upgraded? Does sound like maybe check valve or booster letting in air. In that case it'll stumble before it dies. But it will do it while stopped as well. Stuck choke will kill the engine too. Running rich.

Did you mess with the timing? If the timing isn't set right it will do okay when driving, but may die as you come to a stop as the idle drops. I'd also be looking for vacuum issues. You may also want to check all your wires to be sure you don't have a miss, which can also affect idle and cause the engine to die out.

Are you still running points , check gap/file/replace. Fuel filer/vac leaks(booster)
If it just started out of the blue could be dirty carb or need mix adjustment. Carb Base gasket, snug up carb bolts but don't smoke them down. Always eliminate basics first.
PCV sticking/ air filter dirty/ timing you'd prolly have other symptoms also but check it anyways.
