Can anyone explain the perfect stance for a truck? I was always under the impression that having the front end above the rear a tad was a good stance. I'm not talking 4" difference, like some wannabe prerunners, but more like 1" I guess.

I figure weight transfer to the rear wheels is better and getting the front over obstacles was easier with the front a tad higher. :dunno: Plus if you drive it on the highway as a DD, it will ride smoother with the ass end down more than the front.

Not necessarily. Have you ever towed something that was too heavy for the truck? The front end gets too high and the steering starts to wander.
 
Also, you could build it so it sits a little high in the rear. When it comes time for the trails and you have extra people, tools, and parts inside the ass end will come down

Best dtance is level, and if you have it empty most of the time but want to load it up on trips, then air bag assist.:waytogo:
 
look at the difference between a 2x and 4x suburban...(stockers)

the 2x is ass up a little, the 4x is nose up...
I likw the ass up, as stated it will settle when hauling or towing, not to mention the difference in clearance...

I'm doing a 2x to 4x on my burb, I'm sticking with ass up

Also, the K5 looked a little ass up, IMO.

many times, I have airbags on my DD s10 to help with that. When it comes to my blazer, I want it full on offroad. It will tow a boat or box trailer from time to time, but that's only 5% of it's life. I like airbags, but they hurt articulation and can possibly rip if pulled on too hard. The tongue weight isn't enough to make me worry and I don't carrier a lot of stuff while offroading, so I'll be shooting for about 1"-2" lower if possible.
 
I like my truck just like my women, ass up.

Ass down, to me, looks overloaded or sacked out springs. Just something not right about it.

I see it as how the factory makes them new, higher in the rear. That way once it's loaded to some degree or to its capacity, the rear levels out with the front and the handling characteristics remain as designed. Once overloaded and the rear is lower than the front, that's when funny handling happens.

I think mine sits about right...

I like 1 degree of forward rake measured off the bedrails.....

I am with Brian. Our trucks look butt low if they are dead level because of the wheel well openings.

So I try to have the truck an inch high in the rear so visually they will look dead level. Even though its not.

As far as whats best overall for the truck I am not sure. I can't see how nose just a touch would really help the truck on road or off road. You already can't see anything in these trucks off road so nose up would just add to that problem.

In addition if you are climbing hills the front end of the truck would get lighter quicker, add in axle wrap and you are going to have a very light front end when raging up a steep hill.

My blazer was high in the front by about 2" then I lowered the front 3" and didnt' notice hardly any difference if any at all. Only thing I really noticed is I couldn't quite clear stuff off road like it was when it was taller, it was a touch more stable on the off camber stuff though
 
Burb our K5 Level "apperaing" meaning the ass end up more so the truck appears level

A truck, I like the ass end about an 1" higher .


I never understood the "california lean" I mean for one it looks like crap, and two why would you make and already long hood even harder to see over on the trail???

Plus as Eric mentioned it makes the front end light

Agree with Brian.....about an inch higher in the back. Definitely don't like the sagging rear. Just not proportional in my eyes. Just my 2 cents.
 
One more thought and then I'll leave it alone, the only time the ass low look is ok is when you have a REAL honest to god pre-runner type truck. If not you just look like one of those Monster chugging flatbiller homos who want "the look"


a Leaf spring rig should never sit ass low Period.
