figured nice day out and most everything ready for winter so i decided to grab some eagleone mag cleaner and a red scotch bright pad and clean up my old school western wheel brand slot rims today .

i got these from a family friend around 5 years ago and thay were nasty then from sitting around for almost 20 years or so .

pic #1 is when i got them with old solid as a rock buckshot mudders on them 35"

pic #2 is a good cleaning with egaleone mag cleaner

pic #3 is on my truck these days since 4-5 years of my use of them on and off over the years.

pic #4 is 1/2 cleaned to show just how bad thay are. thats not a shadow on the rim.

pic #5 is basicly done and ready to go back on the truck.

i cant belive the amount of junk / crap / buildup on these old girls . but its coming off and thay are lookin sexy now.

and these pics dont realy show just how bad thay were and clean thay are now. just cell phone pics.

I really like the look of old slot rims! You changing over to these on your plow truck? Almost be a shame plowing with them now that you have them all cleaned up...

Cleaned up real nice!!

nope staying on the plow truck. thay lived for over 30+ years a few more in the winter wont kill them at all. :D

now i just need to make the rest of the truck match the rims.:doah:

Won't take much! either donor cab or new corners and rockers is all... If I recall, you have some cheapo rockers from me...

Get to cutting and welding :weld:

after winter season then redo is in order.

frame swap / cab redo / door swap / fenders swaped / box i got goes on / then paint.

Still think you should sell that set to me..........

Dont waste your money on that eagleone wheel cleaner, Its just muratic acid just go down to the hardware store and buy it buy the gallon and mix it 50/50 with water works better and is way cheaper

those are cool wheels, always liked them. A little bit of old school, I love how they look on a 67-72 4x4, 60-66 truck

check red. :D

lol jeez where's the love?!?!

I don't dilute the hardware store stuff I just spray it on full strength and scrub the wheels with a scotchbrite pad it will clean up even the nastiest wheels . Works better for me , and I use the acid for other things as well its pretty damn handy stuff.

ya few years ago i cleaned my sidewalks around the house. tryed 50/50 but that sucked bigtime so 100% i went with it and bam done quick. :thumb:

when your done polishing you should clear coat them, then you won't get salt corrosion

these rims are not polished aluminum or newer cheep crap that need clear coat.

thay survived over 30 years of neglect thay will last another 30+ years.

thanks tho on the idea of clear coat.

and once i get them down to shinny little shot of rim cleaner now and then pops them back to life with no scrubbing.

They do look great cleaned up. My buddy's dad has those wheels on his full convert jimmy that he plows with and I cringe at how corroded they have gotten( not to mention the truck). They use so much salt here you would think some cars were sunk in the ocean.

I've only cleared some Buick rally's with my friend for his skylark and they are steel, but it makes them extra shiny in the sun. Used a gun which I think made a big difference.

got them all done tonight and my shoulders and elbo's are worn out. :doah:

ya thay do clean up real nice and easy with red scotch bright pads / water / rim cleaning acid. :thumb:

thay are the orignals " WESTERN WHEEL " brand.

i have there other style thay made in 8 lug also.

funny as its the same tires just when i had them on these rims. but now on the slots.
