I didnt buy one yet.. but next time I need to yank out the tranny definitely gonna buy it

We used a single rope wrapped around the T-case adaptor right behind the tranny all attached to the engine hoist. Without any other aid the whole combo hung perfectly level and balanced. No drama, tons of room under the truck to wiggle and guide it out of the bell. Once everything was unbolted it was less than 5 minutes to drop it down and drag it out. It just doesn't get any easier than that IMO.

Yep, I couldn't believe how well they balanced the first time I did that. It's definitely the way to go if I guy has the tunnel removed. I was actually able to use a chainfall through the sunroof once. No engine hoist in the way of the door and seat for me. :D

got the problem taken care of. now, if i had only cut the hole in my floor in the right place... :(

:D

i used my floor jack, did it by myself had no problems, just diddent get the t/c flush against the tranny, so i had to pull it all out again

you put in a pilot bearing? just thought I would check before you get it all back to gather then find out. I used the starter bolts to align the transmission and get it close to use the stander bolts

yep, i put in a pilot bearing. i don't really understand what you are talking about when you say you used teh starter bolts to align the tranny.

when I put my tranny/tc it wanted to rock so I used the bolts for the starter because they are long and held it straight so I can get it lined up

I made some alignment bolts when I put a clutch in my 83, just cut the heads off a 3" bolt and the tranny slides over them and to the bell housing.

I've always heard that trick, and always meant to do it, but never did. With the amount of time I've spent fussing with transmissions that don't want to go in, I could have made many sets of those alignment bolts. :doah:

well guys I got mine finished. got lucky and got to borrow a shop and a jack so everything went pretty smooth. we worked 2 nights from about 7 to midnight. shortened the wheelbase 7 inches while we were at it too. now Ive got a 110 wheel base shortbed pickup. :D stupid me forgot the camera so Ill have to get pics whenever I figure out how we're gonna do the bed.
