I finally got my truck going last weekend. after driving around for twenty minutes i parked it. i went to put it back in the shop and it wouldn't start.
i checked all the connections and battery charge, all were good. took the starter out and had it tested. it checked out fine. still didn't work back in the truck. got a new starter and solenoid. nothing. checked the main lug 12.8 V checked the switch wire when i turn the key 12.8 V. any idea what it could be?

bad ground or dirty terminals.i had the same problem.my positive wire had been melted by my headers.ive had dirty terminals be the curprit.not enough amps through the wires.

Well, quantify "won't start."

Does the solenoid click audibly? Does the starter turn? No *click* means the key cylinder or wiring is suspect, though you said you get juice on the switch wire.

Check battery voltage before (i.e. key off) and cranking. The voltage should drop; if not, the starter motor may not be engaging. I'm thinking the wiring from the solenoid to the starter motor proper, but more info / detail is needed.

when i turn the key absolutely nothing happens. the ampmeter doesn't just pull down in boings back and forth. the battery is new. the thing that screws me up is, it was just running then nothing thanks guys

If the solenoid doesn't click, start checking the wiring, ground straps too.
