I just got my 1980 Gmc Jimmy and i pulled the starter, but i was rushing and didnt look at how it was wired and now i cant figure it out. Any suggestions

Purple wire goes on the small stud nearest the engine block. All red wires go to the center post with the battery cable. The outer stud is not used.

Make sure all of the wires are pulled away from the exhaust manifold when you're done!!

I looked for a purple wire but couldnt find it. is there another way to identify that wire, maybe where it is coming from?

It comes from the fuse box ,then goes behind the engine in a harness...actually it begins at the ignition switch, then goes to the neutral safety switch, then to the fuse box, comes out of the firewall side of the fuse box, then behind the engine to the starter..it is put in a metal conduit pipe thats bolted to the bellhousing factory, and I've seen the wires in that conduit get roasted many times !--the two red wires going to the large stud on the solenoid are in that pipe too..
