starter interchangeability?

finally got motvated to get outside in this cold weather and drop my starter so icould have it tested. took it to autozone and it failed. so that means i need a new one.

i eventually want to get the bosch gear reduction starter that rene has... but untill i have the money will a starter from a 83 6.2 K30 work?

The only difference (To my knowledge) is depending on the size of the flexplate. GM had 2 different starters one for a small flexplate and one for the large Manual trannys usualy had the large flywheel. But it should work if they are both diesels.

thats what i thought. i also looked them up on autozone.com and they both have the same reclacement part #s... so im pretty sure they should just wanted to double check
