I changed my tranny and while I was there I figured I would change to one of those high torque mini starters. Well you know how it is, when things are goin to good something has to go wrong...right  ?

So my stock starter has 4 prongs on it and the mini has 3. What is the deal here? Anybody used one of these before? If it makes any differance the starter manufacturer is mitsubishi the rig is a '73 burb with a 350 th350 combo with the ignition upgraded to an HEI.

Any help is apreciated, thanks.

When you say 'prongs', you mean as in electrical connectors? I've got a Tilton Super Starter in mine which wired up pretty easy -- didn't even have to shim it.

Throw up a pic if you have one and I'll see if I can help...

I'm assuming the 4 prongs you are talking about are on the solenoid

1- battery positive
2 -starter motor lead
3- solenoid Positive from key switch
4 -possibly ground for solenoid coil or bypass to ignition when solenoid is energized (engine cranking )

Not real sure if that is what you have,,just a suggestion.

The new starter has a ground to the case (from the solenoid) so there are only three terminals.
