hi all,

when i try to start the engine (either hot or cold) there is always a big metal banging sound.. after the engine starts.. its normal...

could the problem be from one of the starters parts or from the flywheel...

thanks

Banging or grinding? Get under there and have someone else start it and see where its commin from. If its commin from the starter area then pop the dust cover off and see whats goin on.

you may need to shim it away from yer flywheel, if its too close itll make a funny grinding/squealin noise. plus youll tear up starters and eventually the flywheel...:doah:

i hope there is no problem with the flywheel, as i dont want to go through the hassle of removing the transmission to replace it...

if you do need to replace the flywheel, try to get a cherry picker and pull the tranny tunnel hump off from inside your vehicle, then you can drop a line down to support the tranny w/ the cherry picker. it will make the job a TON easier.
