will one of the starters on the newer model chevy trucks fit my 83 K5 blazer? Or do the newer models have different connections and the smaller 153 tooth flywheel? If it will work what year do I need to look for? I would like to have one of the smaller gear reduction starters that come on the newer model chevy trucks , just not sure if it will work or be made to work............want a little more cranking power and a little smaller starter without having to buy one of the hi tourqe specialty ones for $200 dollars or more. I have seen some on evilbay for anywhere between $59.00 - $89.00 , thanks for your input guys

1995-1998 used the small starter. According to NAPA's online parts lookup, they use the 168t flywheel. I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. Prices are 150ish.

do you recall what year s-10?( I'm guessing it was for the 4.3 motor) and did you have to change any of the connections to the starter? Is it the gear reduction type ( smaller dia. starter)?

Sorry for all of the questions , just want to be sure before I buy one , I'm thinking the smaller body on these types will give me more clearance between the starter and my headers! Thanks again

Come off a 97 or so. No i didnt have to change anything. Ya its the small gear reduction type. Had to use it on my S10 blazer with a 350 in it to clear the headers.

one more question if you don't mind....

are you running the bigger 168 tooth flywheel? which require the starter to have the diagonal bolt pattern ? thanks a lot for your help
