What brand starter is a good one to go with should I go delco or a just something from the oreily or autozone? it s for my D/D

I got a delco starter fron the dealer and the nose housing broke on it. I'm thinking about getting a mini starter.

do you think it broke because of poor quality? I can a delco starter online for about the same price of the aftermarket brand from the local parts store

I found the casting of the dealers delco to be of poor quality.

Autozone. They are cheap, seem to work fine. And they have a lifetime warranty. Sure may not last as long but if it breaks the stores are everywhere and its a what 10 min tops removal??

I get every starter and alternator I have rebuilt yes it cost more but i get a better product.

I've been running through the Napa premium ones. They last about a year at a time, but they've got a 3 year warranty that starts again every time I get a new one, so that $200 investment is working out just fine with 10 minutes of wrenching every spring.

Spent i think $80 on mine. One in the vandura with a 350 thats nearing 5 years old and the blazers is over a year. Both still crank up nice.

That's one of those parts I do buy at Autozone, BUT, I buy them new, not a reman'd unit, I quit buying reman'd stuff from Autozone.

Bought a 1 year warranty alternator for the Burb once, because I was short on cash, a year and two months later it left me stranded on the side of the highway with a melted rear bearing. Bought a brand new (not reman'd) and have been running that for the past several years with no issue.

Ive always run champion reman's. Never really had any problems so far with em. I cooked one that was about 3 years old this fall, but in its defense it was right fulla mud :haha:

My recommendation is to get a high torque mini starter. It is so much lighter, has more power and is less drain on battery

thanks for all the input looks like alot of you guys are running stuff from the local parts store. Just had to ask because mines is starting to go but its the delco one that i bought in 1999 when I got my truck so its been almost 13 years same starter
