I want to try and start the 77 Blazer when I get back to it in a few weeks but it has not been started in years now . Any tips? I plan on pulling plugs and putting some oil in cylinders that someone had mentioned then some new plugs for it. Have new belts to install as well. I thought I should maybe disconnect fuel tank and possibly just fill the bowls ? Should I maybe pull valve covers and put some oil on them prior to turning over as well? Any other tips appreciated. Hoping to get it running enough to get it on a trailer and get it out of the mountains and at least over to Grass Valley, CA for now. I'm no auto mechanic by any means , mostly just 2stroke motos so any help appreciated

You could just spray WD40 or just some atf in the cylinders too. Definitely disconnect the fuel supply. If/when you go to try and use the old gas, I would try to dilute it with new gas and toss in a few additives like Sta-bil and an octane booster.
Other than that I’d check trans fluid to make sure it’s full enough to not burn the pump.
Filling the bowls should get you 30-45 seconds of run time.

I like to rotate the engine by hand at least one revoloution before hitting it with the starter.
I would start with removing the spark plugs and squirting ATF in the hole, let it sit at least an hour, preferably overnight.
Then, before you put the new spark plugs back in,

Then hit the starter and let it spin getting the cylinder walls lubricated and possibly a little oil priming.
Then put the spark plugs, and start it.
Now for the fuel if it's low, add fresh fuel it should be fine.
If it was full I would disconnect and run from a can first, then deal with the old gas

I’ll go with the atf then and rotate it a couple days later. Maybe 1/2oz a cylinder or less? No idea how many years old gas is but probably over 10yrs or so. going to fill bowls thru the vents and see what happens there. Just need it to run enough to get it able to drive on to a trailer for now.
If using atf use the type f fluid for older Fords.
