I told you'all id keep you posted on my whole stolen K5 deal, I had lots of advise on being wary of the Insurance agency, well..... I settled today, and i must say, State Farm totally took care of me. This has been my first major claim in 14 years of driving, They did not put up a fight at all, i told them what i had, supplied them with some comparison values and showed them what i was buying. They Kicked down with a check of ..... $11,064 for my '89 K5.
Not bad at all, im satisfied and they will keep my buisness.
Dont know what some of the other no name brand insurance companies are like, but im staying with State Farm, even if it costs an extra $30 per year.

The replacement is looking real good too! Did you find that thru autotrader.com? Hope you dont mind my asking but, how much did you give for it?

Thats great for you. Glad everything came out OK!
State farm sent me a check a few months ago too. Some body in an Expidition rear ended my little commuter car last winter in the ice. there was just some light damage to the rear hatch. The body shop estimated repairs at 1300 so State farm sent me a check for that ammount. The best part is I only payed 1000 for the car 5 years ago. thanks for the car State farm. I put the cash in my K5.

Awesome!!!!!!!! How much did you have in it? How did you come up with that amount?

That is great!
Also - I like your color choices.
The only bad thing is that your new ride is too nice to wheel.

Hey Scooter, i showed them current ads for similar Blazers and had many reciepts to show the value of upgrades. They are able to look within a 200 mile radius and cant compare within 1 year to similar vehicles. I believe the fact that i was replacing the Blazer with another helped too. Cause we started with its market value and went from there.
I did find my replacement on http://www.tori89k5.coloradok5.com

Picking up the new one this Friday.... Flying to Seattle then driving it home.

Thanks for the info. I have been looking at autotrader.com too ... i just (like 5 minutes ago) did a search for 87-88 Blazers w/in 200 miles of my zip code (64030) ... there's a whopping total of 4. I've already looked at or called on them and dont want any of them. Maybe I'm being too picky, but I don't think so. I'll send you a PM with some of the other details.

I am glad that they were good enough to pay off!! That says something for an Insurance company anymore! What kind of theft deterrent did you say you had figured in the price?ha ha Good luck with the new ride!!

Fantastic. Are you like...having to start all over from scratch? If so...it's not too bad...all that wrench turning can be good therapy. Do you have pictures of the new one? We would all like to see it. I'm glad things worked out for you as well. Anyone want to steal mine and strip it down? Hehehehehe...

That's great, Tori. In insurance, you get what you pay for, and unfortunately, there are a lot of smaller insurance companies out there that are cheaper, but people don't ever find out what they are paying for until they file a claim. I know that some of the members have complained about their experiences with certain insurance companies, but like I said, you get what you pay for. Of course we all want as much as we can get, but there are also some that want much more than they have entitled to them. Hopefully that will rid of some of the myths people have here. It sounds like State Farm treated you really well. Good luck.
