I have Staun deflators and love them. The first thing you need to know is which set you have. They sell them in ranges. Mine were the ones in the orange package, which allows you to set the shutoff pressure between 8 and 25 PSI, I think. Or something like that.
Anyhow, they give you 4 brass thread on things. There are three parts of these to pay attention to:
1.) There is a little brass "pin" stickout out the end. This is the part that closes when the pressure has been reached. In certain cases, if the tire doesn't start to deflate automatically when you thread the deflator on, you might need to pull that out by hand.
2.) The larger of the two "threaded and knurled" adjusters. This is the "head" of the part. It is the thing that adjusts the pressure they shut off at.
3.) A Locking sleeve. This is the part that is closest to the tire. This does nothing except help keep the adjuster part in the same spot all the time.
Here's how I use them. Go get your spare tire (or whatever you want) and deflate the tire to the pressure you want the Stauns to shut off at. Then back the adjuster (number 2 above) all the way out, and thread the tool on the valve. Then thread the adjuster (part 2) clockwise until you can get to flow continuously out when you pull the little pin. Then back up till the pin pops back down. Thread the locking sleeve up, and you are set.
Then do that for all 4, and they'll all adjust the tires to the right pressure!
Voila!
