i was replacing the front sseal on my stearing box at the input shaft and i cant get the guts to go back in far enough after i have it lined up.

any sugestions will help. pleas?!

Anyone?

How bout If one if I accidentally backed off the worm gear a smidge, I turned it maybe 1/2 to 1 turn out only, could I have lost a bearing in there? I was carefull not to.

How hard is it to reassemble the bearings to the worm gear?

Well It turned out to be just alignment issues in the front end oF the box. Once I pulled it out and benched it I was able to reassemble it correctly. Forever I was scared of these boxes but now I realize how completly simple they really are. I am glad I got this experience under my belt. saved 75 bucks too on buying a reman or more. the seal kit is only 25$.

I've been putting off replacing my output seal on my box due to the uncertainty of it all. I even went as far as buying the kit once.. and then i didn't do it... it just leaks every now and then. It's not a bad job then? don't need anything special to do it?

The output seal is super easy to replace.(the seal on the sector shaft)

Center the steering wheel. remove the pitma arm. (if doing it in the car remove the fan shroud) remove the 4 bolts on the top cap and slide out the sector(still attached to the top cap.) Remove the retaining clip on the bottom of the output housing and the metal washer. There is a second retaining clip and then another seal and washer. Then reverse the process to reinstall. no adjustments are neccesary doing it this way.

It is a good time to take any additional play out of the steering box though.

The input is another story and I have a few tricks to relieve your headaches on that one.
