i am in the middle of takeing off my old stearing arm. I have a tuff country stearing correction for my 89 k5. I cannot get the old peice off. what am i doing wrong

are there threads that go all the way through. it looks like it or do i just bang on it till it comes off. Just dont want to mess up the bolts, no new ones came

If you're talking about the steering arm on the knuckle first spray it with WD40 or the like, hit it downward with a BFH, remove cone washers, lift arm off. I haven't had a steering arm take me much more than about 10 minutes to remove this way.

they are studs that are in the knuckle, there are cone washers that go inside the arm from the top and when the nuts go on they are pressed in. i belive you can still get the cone washers from the dealer if need be. try soaking the holes with some penatraiting(SP?) oil.it may help loosen up some of the deep rust. Heat and a BFH go a long way. hope this helped ya

I wouldn't use too much fire on it unless you like having messed up ball joint boots/seals.

Swing the hammer hard. Real hard!
