steel costs....

heck, i'd be happy with jpeater deal at 75 a sheet... tj's deal sounds rediculously low, doubt i'm gonna find a price that cheap around here...

hopefully Pete can hook me up, otherwise i'll hunt around....

one of the small steel places near me in greenville.
they are always cheap. the other day i bought a 12x18 3/8" plate and 6" of 5" .250 wall tube for $10, i also bought 10' of 6" c channel for $5. it was in the drop pile with no reciepts.

i just checked my reciepts, the 14 guage wasn't $15 it was $25, the $15 was for 3/8" 12"x12", and the 1/8" was $6 for a 12"x24"
i really should check my reciepts before i start saying prices

Damn... that's a 2 1/2 hour drive. Any money I'd save on steel would go out the tail pipe.

I worked at steel yard last summer and they had two grades of sheet steel. They had commerical and..... I can't remember but I believe commercial was a lower grade and had more crap in the steel. The higher grade was more pure and easier to work.

I love steel yards... made my winch mount out of it...

1/8" mount from ramsey was $80 plus shipping

I made a 3/8 C channel... 12" wide and 35" long mount for $40!!!!!!!
cut the C off of each side so lit looked like a flat piece of steel and bolted it to the bottom of my frame...
