Looking for 17" wheels, basic, steel, most likely black rockcrawlers, since my 16" worked well. The interest in 17s is due to better tire selection for my planned step-up in tire size, not much choice for 37s for 16" wheels. Leaning towards Nitto Terra Grapplers as I've seen them grip well and hold up to conditions in AZ and southern UT. Then again, I might just stick with Goodyear MTRs.

Cheapest 17" wheel I could find is from Summit; 4WP has the ProComp rockcrawlers for a few $$ more.

What bugs me is the 2000lbs load rating on all these - doesn't that seem low?

Does your truck weigh more than 8000 lbs? ;)

In all seriousness though, what are most wheels rated for? I don't think I'd be worried about a 2000 lb load rating

At times, it certainly feels that way....:D
And you assume all four wheels to be on the ground, with weight evenly distributed. That's not always the case...

My current wheels (16x8 rockcrawlers) are probably in the same weight rating category as well, and it hasn't bothered me before. It's just that the number looked strange to me...

I am kind of looking too, but in 6 lug... for the same reasons. I'm just not a fan of wagon wheels,

Just a quick look-see for 17x8 8-lug aluminum wheels sez Eagle Alloys have a load rating of 3420lbs. (ProComp Xtreme Alloys are 3420 as well...); Center Line at 3200, AR at 3300...
I don't care that much about looks, except for the fact that a set of bling wheels would look really, really odd on my truck, and they'd get scratched and never washed... maybe I need to find a (cheap) set of H2s...

what about the steel crager soft 8's? never heard anything bad on them, but most guys run the 17" versions on my second gen camaro sight to get the cheap 17s.

Couldn't find a load rating on either Summit or Jegs.

As Chris pointed out earlier, this is probably a non-problem in the first place.
It's just that the number caught my eye.
I've been running the 16" black rockcrawlers for nearly 7 years now without an issue. I'm sure they'll hold up just fine for a few more months (or years...) of procrastination...:D
