I removed the steering arm on my 74 . Is it necessary to replace the nuts and cones and if so where could I get them? thanks!

Nuts, yes. Cones, no..unless they are in bad shape. The only place I know of to get them readily is the dealer, MAYBE through Six States Distributors if you have one close to you.

I like to install fresh nuts and cones, to ensure I never have to deal with a loose steering arm. As Shane said, the cones are dealer only and I think the nuts are 9/16 fine thread. double check that though.

Maybe I don't understand, but I think http://www.sky-manufacturing.com has an install kit with studs, nuts, and cones for $29. I always reuse my old ones and have never had any problems.

I swapped studs and nuts to the passenger side.. reused both.. no problems yet.....ord xover..... awwwww so nice :wink1:

thanks guys . My cones don't look bad. I'm not gonna worryabout it. As for the nuts anyone know the torque specs or should I just hammer it on with my airgun?

I'm sure that someone will say its wrong, but I just hammered them on with the airgun. they will probably be a joy to get off (again) someday.
