Steering arm

I'm changing ball joints on my 84 k20 suburban. I'm having trouble getting the steering arm off the hub. It appears to me (I've not done this before) that there are beveled sleeves around the three studs. Is this true? If so what do I need to do to get them out?

Steering arm is connected to the knuckle. Im pretty sure you can access the ball joints without removing the steering arm. I vote for leave it on.

soak with pb blaster, hit (with BFH) arm down on the cast numbers a few times. washers should loosen enough to twist out counterclockwise.

You don't need to remove steering arm to get to ball joints.

Thanks for the responses. I did have to remove it to clear the upper ball joint. I just wasn't using a big enough hammer. Soaked it while I had lunch, it gave up to the 4lb.

Ya I'm gonna press mine out right after I change the spark plugs in my 6.5.

make sure you use bosch platnum plus 4 quality. and use that red locktight dont need them rattlin out now ya hear
