Have a weird problem with my steering when I turn all the way to lock to the left. First here's what I did recently.
1) Dana 60
2) ORD Crossover High steer
3) Hydro assist

Not done with the hydro assist yet. Also replaced all the seals in the steering input side of the 2wd box. Noticed that it was binding when I was turning the steering wheel back and forth lock to lock to try and bleed the system. It happens when the steering is almost to lock on the left side then it seizes, then releases when I turn harder. Happens with the wheels on the ground and in the air. Ram isn't fully bled yet but don't think it's that. Only seems to do it real bad when I'm actually turning the steering wheel. Tried adjusting the preload out because I removed the top cap to tap it but the thread count was the same after I reinstalled it and I don't want to go too far. When I rotate the actual wheel and tire from lock to lock while in the air up on the jack it doesn't seem to do it as bad ????:dunno:

Disconnect the hydro assist and see if it still does it. At least this way you can rule that out as a possible cause.

Did this problem just start after you started adding parts?

Might have done it after crossover. Can't remember for sure. I only took it on one test drive before the hydro project. Either way I don't think it's a ram issue. It's not connected at either end, just suspended above a 5 gal bucket while I bleed the system. I'm thinking it has something to do with the new box or draglink somehow.

That is your problem. After taking apart a rebuilt steering box for a friend of mine that came from AGR i would NEVER buy another rebuilt box again or suggest anyone buy one. The boxes are too easy to rebuild yourself and MUCH cheaper too.

There are 24 steel balls within the steering box and there are two different sizes that MUST be alternated when they are installed, they also are only .001" difference in size and can make the steering box bind up if install incorrectly (not staggered).

I didn't mess with the output side of the box just the input. I only did that because I had a leaky input seal and the only way to get at it was to remove this whole thing. While I was at it I of course replaced all the seals on the unit.

That is the input shaft and spool valve. The 24 balls i'm talking about are in the rack nut and that is what connects the worm gear to the rack nut and allows the sector shaft to turn.

Right. I haven't touched that side of the box yet. Don't feel like replacing all the seals just yet.

Looks like I'm going to have to mess with the output side after all. When I turn the steering wheel from lock to lock without the engine on it's fine. When the engine is on and the box is pressurized, the problem at full left lock happens.

If you get yourself into a pickle come bring it to me and we'll check it out together.
