after ripping the steering box off my jimmy i decided to do something to reinforce the frame and help keep it from flexing.
inner plate is 3/8 plate

cross bar is 2x2x1/4 wall

plate on pass side frame is 3/16th.theres about 3/8" clearance to the pully on the crank.
we did the same on the other k5 we are building but used 1 1/4" sch 40 pipe for the cross bar

Nice idea. Might be a good idea to stitch weld on the vertical plane to avoid frame failure.
