I don't know if this is my Steering box's fault or the arm on the steering box. My truck has an excessive amount of lift. I have one of those drop drag links (zlink) and a raised steering arm on the axel. It has been about 3 years since my Blazer was together to drive on the road. I noticed the steering was offly weird when I started to drive it on Sunday. Yesterday my G/F was moving it around and I had her stop so I could watch the steering. I noticed that My steering arm on the Steering box was pushing up when it would push back to steer to the right. (Which is the direction I am having the steering issue with.) Meaning it looks as though the steering arm was loose on the shaft coming out of the steering box. I haven't tried to tighten the bolt up yet that gose throught the Arm. I will soon. I was just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem and if it means that the Steering shaft has gotten wore down and isn't going to tighten down properly...

are you sure the shaft is moving, or the whole box is moving? If you have an excessive amount of lift, you are putting and excessive amount of force on all those steering parts, so expect premature wear.

I don't have an answer, but I too have experienced this. I put a new steering box in and the shaft appears to be going up and down (instead of just turning) as I rotate the steering wheel. I know it is happening I can stick my finger between the box and the pitman arm and feel the "pinch" as it moves.

I'm not sure how much it's really affecting my steering as my drag link ends are shot. Maybe the adjuster nut up top takes some of this out, but I've read here not to screw with it.

I believe that the arm is moving but When I go to tighten it up tonight I will make sure that the Shaft isn't moving up inside the Box.
