hey all, I just did the ORD crossover steering with a new 2wd psc steering box on my m1009, and i'm havin a problem. It is noisy when turning or braking, and not working to well. the box came with fluid in it, and i started the truck up, and turned the wheel back and forth several times while on the lift to bleed the system, but it's still no good. ideas??

I've been in the same situation. Sounds like it hasn't been blead all the way.

Mine did the same thing, after lots of bleeding and yelling... turned out to be the pump, guess my old one was weak. Used a buddies Kragen lifetime receipt to get a freebie.

Might sound stupid but did you fill the system after you installed the box? The only reason i ask is because of this comment in bold.

thanks for the replys!

yeah, i topped off the fluid right after the install. i've been fooling with it a little more tonight, and it looks like one of the hoses was leaking a little, so i tightened it up, no more leaking, but still not assisting properly. how exactly does one bleed the system? i was under the impression it is self bleeding, just by turning the wheel lock to lock numerous times. it did that at least 15 times, but mabe i need to put it back up on the lift and keep cranking the wheel back and forth???

Bleeding the sytem is done with the wheels off the ground and cycling the wheels left to right anywhere from 10-50 times. It's all going to depend on how much air is in the system.

and with hydro boost it takes afew run cycles to flush it out.

search in the garage for hydroboost blead or versions of it. its been posted how to blead the system before. gm has special directions in the books on this.

well, if were talking about up to 50 cycles to bleed the system, then it looks like i have some turning to do. I'll have to put it back in the air tomorrow and see if i can get this beast blead.

thanks for the help guys, I'm a new member, so it's awesome to see so many others that share the same interest and knowledge in these old trucks.
