Anyone know of a steering box frame reinforcement kit?.

My frame broke in half on an '89 K5 and the steering box riped loose.

Summit and LMC carry a kit for under $80.

Is there anything else out there?

Actually snapped the frame in two? Dang.

The popular kits here come from

http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/steeringkit.htm

They have a "bolt-in" brace, which prevents future damage on a straight frame via triangulation.

They also have a "weld-in" brace, to help in the repair of your busted frame and strengthen it.

You need both. Badly, apparently :D

The first thought that came to my mind was... 'I'll bet ORd makes something for this'

I will get some pictures taken, I cracked frames under the firewall behind the front spring, and I've cracked them at the t-case crossmember, but this was by FAR the worst especially with the AWESOME steering adjustment I got when the box popped loose going down the road, (about 4 steering wheels turns to what normal would take one.) Pretty freakin neat....

Your going to have to provide a picture at least. Fixing what you seem to describe, with an ord or anyone's "reinforcement" kit isn't possible. Did you infact break your frame and rip the box off?

Broken in half will deff take more than a weld in kit plus a bolt in one... Somehow fish-plating the entire frame, then using the bolt in kit with longer bolts i would assume... I also used nuts on the end of the longer than needed bolts so the box can never work loose.
