Steering box seal ?

A lot of seals have the part# on them.If its not mauled clean it up and take a look.

Once i'm 100% sure on which seal you are looking for I can get you a part number. I have a catalog in my book rack in the garage that I use for ordering complete rebuild kits for the steering boxes.

i got mine at oriellys, they had it in stock. its a little kit with two seals, washer and a snap ring. easy cheesy.
im sure if anybody with a brain across the counter can find it.

They had to order it at Autozone. Just didn't know if it was the right parts. That and I thought it was just the one seal. I have never changed one before.

Ok, the seal "kit" you want is an AC Delco 36-350650 (this is called a lower pitman shaft seal kit). This kit fits 1997-1998 with 4.3L V6, 5.0L V8, 5.7L V8, 6.5L V8, 7.4L V8

Ok. Thanks Scott. How hard is this to change.

If you don't remove the sector shaft it could get tricky trying to remove the inner seal as it is pretty far inside the casting of the steering box. DO NOT install the seals in the wrong order, there is a single lip AND a double lip seal with a washer in between them. The single lip seal is the inner seal and the double lip is the outermost seal.

So can i change just the outer most seal. The box is still on the truck. Don;t really want to take it off. If I can just get the leak slowed down some.

Also will a box from a 2 wheel drive truck work.

i did mine in truck. i just popped off the top cap and pulled the sector shaft out. remove and replace the seals, put the shaft back in. the top cap is an oring seal so its easy to seal back up. 20 minutes really.
