steering column experts... jammed steering lock, 89 k3500 gen 2

Last night the 89 k3500 service truck steering lock mechanism jammed and wouldnt let me shut off the truck (without taking a pair of pliers and twisting the jeep out of it) this morning I began to disassmeble the steering column but I cant get the halves seperated...I did get the ignition switch out but it looks like the anti theft bar (the device you push to release your key) is jammed and wont allow everything to come apart..... any help.. anyone??? chiltons is lame here

It's a stick shift truck?

yes stick shift truck... has the wipers/high beam on the stalk... Ive got all the wires disconnected ,,,etc etc etc...

anybody have an idea for me....
and when I do get this thing apart is it possible to do away with the steering lock all together by removing it... hate the damn things anyway....
