What does it take to replace the little spring the creates tension on the gear selector on the column? Where to source that spring? 91 gmc jimmy

Are you talking about the park reverse neutral drive low indicator in the instrument panel?
I have never seen the spring available, haven't looked either.
While working as a gm tech, that unit was replaced as an assembly.
If you have self service wrecking yard near that would be your best source.
A few members hear might have the assembly they will sell. Be sure to give year and model of transmission

Hi and thanks for the response. Im actually assuming that there is a spring or something making tension on the shifter lever as you pull it towards you to put the lever into gear. My lever suddenly went limp and it just is really loose.

Yes there is a little spring behind the lever that gives it tension when you pull it towards you. You just drive the pivot pin out that holds the shift lever in place to replace it. Spring probably broke.
