Steering column / headlights

I recently realized my headlights and taillights (only) do not work on my ('91) Blazer. Prior to noticing this, I did have my steering column apart to replace my dimmer switch (no low/high detent), could I have left anything out / disconnected that would do this? It seemed like a simple repair but maybe not.

I have new headlights and good rear bulbs, new headlamp switch, can't find any obvious wiring issues but they suddenly quit working. All of my lights were working perfect, the turn signals, flashers, dash and brake lights still work.

Headlights and taillights do not go through any connections in the steering column. The turn signals do and those appear to be working for you. I'd look at the connector on your headlight switch and see if it was pulled loose partially from the work you did.

That is the only place the head lamps and tail lamps share a connection, the light switch.
The high low switch does get the power from the light switch.
Check the tail lamp fuse and the connection at the high low switch.
Might be coincidence that the 2 don't work at same time.

I replaced the switch for easy diagnosis but I didn’t check the connector itself. It’s an aftermarket harness, very nice (factory like) but aftermarket none the less.

I’ll look at the other items too but the dimmer will be the last resort. lol

Just went through the same with my 90 k3500, turned out being the dimmer switch after I changed the headlight switch

In the mid 2000's I could not find a 60s -70s Ford aftermarket switch that the dimmer dome would function. I went down to the parts store with a good switch and ohm meter, checked every switch they had in stock. Not one was correct. I went to several parts stores including Napa.
That truck still needs a fully functional head lamp switch.
