The columns I have for my burb have the wrong style to except a splines u joint. they used a funky spring and bolt set up. Is it possible to swap out the actually shaft for the newer style or do I need to find a 69-72 (whenever they went to splined outputs) column?

I guess i could alwayd have ot machined down and run a double d style like the aftermarket shafts on both ends.

If it helps it's on a 68 burb with a t-birb rack and pinion, but with a 81 2wd member

You won't be able to swap shafts in those years, but depending on how much $$ you want to spend, you can get a custom steering joints made to replace the rag joint arm GM used. (look up borgenson)

You can also buy/fab an adaptor to join the two different ends together.

I have just completed the same deed. Like what was said early I went to Borgeson and received the correct universal joints to accomlish this task. My $.02
