Ok so on my 75 blazer I went to replace the lock cylinder (that was fun lol) and I pulled the old one out and this weird gear looking thing came out with it. Not sure what exactly its called. I asked my gm mechanic guy about it and he said there is supposed to be a spring that holds it in. Well I tore it apart some more to see if I could find the spring and its not there. So my question is what does the spring do and do I need it? And if I need it does someone have a diagram of how it all goes together?

Mine doesn't look anything like that.
Seems to me that my issue is that i cant find a non tilt column diagram. Maybe some help from you guys?
