I,m trying to change columns. Removing auto, tilt column. Installing manual, fixed column. The ignition switch plug is different. Tried to install ign. switch from tilt column to fixed column. The rod is a different length. What do I do ? Do I rewire plug ? Or just find a tilt manual column ? Any help would be great !

I find it hard to believe that the plugs for the ignition switch is different. I've swapped a few columns and the ignition pigtail all plugged in the same. However, the place of the ignition switch on the column could be in a different place. It could even be backwards. The routing of harness will be different between the tilt and nontilt.
Pictures could help.

Edit. I also noticed you are going from an auto column to a manual column. What are you going to do about your now missing neutral/back-up switch which is missing from your new manual column. Even if you get the ignition switch plugged in, you probably won't get it started.
