Steering column parts

What do you need?
Well I took apart top half of column, made a list and priced it. Decided on getting a rebuilt one since it's just a little more plus fully looked over other then what I have. I think the aight was columns galore. I'm looking at auto shift no tilt for $425.

So do they give you any money for your old column?

The price seems steep to me, but I have been into several columns, plus have spares... tilt usually has a high price.

Core charge is $250, was thinking of getting one off of eBay but not guaranteed it's rebuilt. I do have a tilt one but no auto shift on it

post want add I rebuilt my column from nothing it was so damaged and had maybe $200 in it

Turn signal switch, bearing, plastice sleeve, almost all the parts in the upper half. Problem was when key is turned shift wouldn't work and key had a hard time to come out. But when a friend and I tore it apart it was dirty and alot of worn out parts, so thought about just purchasing a rebuilt one. What are your thoughts

Depends on lots like time you have to spend vs $$$.

I took challenge on since didn't have the $$$ and would do again.

Probably tear apart fully clean real good and inspect all parts.

I had wobble and already tightened famous bolts that loosen up. Turned out mine was bearings (can get from GM still) and tube it self was bent. Got 1 part I needed from member here.

Post up see if anyone has a column for parts and would send them to you!

I can say everyone here has helped my non 4wd knowledge out a lot and if I can help you in any way let me know!

Have the tools to take it apart?

2nd link work?

Don't rush take your time or you will be taking it apart twice like I did!

No small job but learn something new.

Like to learn something new all time and if you never screw up while fixing cars your doing something wrong

Fortunately my friend has all the tools and has been helping me out. I'll list the parts when I get home. Thanks for your input

Also check eBay for parts lots of vehicles cross reference to one another.

No problem CK5 has been good to me so time to try to lend little help to another member!

@brans87 , didn't you do a thread on all of the work on yours?

@PHC CK5 , if you don't need the tilt manual trans column, you should be able to sell it, as they didn't make as many as the auto trans column with tilt.
Also, what year are you needing? The dimmer and wiper switch on the turn signal lever started in '84.

Kinda sorta over a year ago!

Remember talking to you about the problems I was having etc.

Still good to this day with no problems.
