I think the key cylinder in the steering column has gone bad, (90 K5) it won`t turn far enough to start my blazer, how do I remove the key cylinder from the steering column ?, if I can get it out and use a screw driver to start it, then I will know for sure its bad. (it worked fine last week, HELP)

You need to pull the steering wheel off. Use a steering wheel puller. Then you need to remove the lock ring. The special lock ring compressor tool makes the c-clip easier to remove. Then pull the turn signal harnass out of the way.

You should then be able to see the lock cylinder retaining screw. Take that out, and cylinder will just pop out.

Or just use a slide hammer and rip it out :D

The tools should be available at any parts store, or even sears.

I had a similar problem on a Sonoma I used to have. Damn thing jammed and I couldnt turn the car off. Had to pull the battery and alt. When I took the cylinder out, it fell into like 3 pieces.

Good luck
Randy
