Hi All, before I get roasted for not searching, this is not the tilt column bolts, it is the actual shaft that is loose. I have taken the wheel and lockplate off and can see that the steering shaft is moving inside the column.
I was out at king of the hammers driving on a flat dirt road when I noticed that my steering column started to feel loose. The wheel had about an inch of up and down play. I continued to drive and then noticed that this was getting worse and worse to the point that the wheel is now flopping around loose. upon inspection I noticed that the lower column bearing (at the firewall in engine compartment) has come out of the plastic retainer that holds it in place. Is that the root cause of the problem? Any resources on how to swap or find these parts? Seems when searching I only can find the loose tilt column threads and fixes.
I want to make sure that is the actual issue, and not a side effect of an internal bearing that has gone bad or is on its way out.
Thanks!
