My orginal column is an 86 auto column cruise tilt etc. I am putting a 4 spd in the truck. Found a manual column that I want to use for a little cash. It does not have cruise.

Can I just use the wiring from my auto column in the manual column

Or can I just switch the column piece to eliminate the moveable part of the auto column that the shifter is attached too.

I know I know just take the auto shifter lever out but on this truck I intend on doing everything the way I want to do it.

You can simply pull the signal lever off and switch it with the manual column, as long as they are the same type. The lever itself has the wiring you need, and you will have to fish it down through the column.
