Another day, something else to fix! FFFUUUU. I already tore this column down twice. Put it back together and I guess I missed a step because the bearing grenaded itself and been sloppy so I haven't been driving it. Took the wheel off today and found this fun crap. I'm looking online and it seems the cheapest bearing set I can find is $35. Anyone have a link to a cheaper one or one I can get super fast? Also, my new fear is how many of the little ball bearing made it down into the bottom of the column. I think I'm screwed.

I am sure it will as Heeps used the same column manufacturer in the 80s and 90s as GM. I know the Crown lower bearing set for the bottom does .

For what it's worth, there was a few guys offering rebuilt setups on ebay. Up front was a little more money but not having to fug with all the internals was worth it to me.

Awesome, thanks guys. I ordered the bearings. If this doesn't fix it I will just yank the whole column and have it completely rebuilt by a shop in San Antonio, TX. I think they charge $350 to do it.

All fixed and rock solid! It was the upper bearing. Got it on ebay and it came in today.

Is there a good write up or video that shows the bearing replacement in one of these steering columns?
