Hello Members. I’m having the steering components replaced along with ball joints on my 89 K5. The guy doing repairs said he was having a hard time finding the parts. The truck is still at his garage. Where is everybody getting parts and what brand are you using. MOOG , TRW , ?? I kinda find it hard to believe he’s having a difficult time finding correct parts. Would anyone know part numbers and or places/sites to purchase.

Ac delco has a catalog that should be their go to. Sounds like I'd go to someone else.

Spicer is what you should use for ball joints.

TRY HERE https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/

tons of name brand and mid grade and cheep parts to pic from .

spicer or moog for stock ball joints . then moog for steering .

if he cant find parts for one of these trucks i almost think he should not be working on it . but thats just me and maybe he is just out of the loop on parts places .

The parts you are after are simple repair parts. Nothing fancy, a call to NAPA should have them at his shop without issue. I think every parts store in the US has this stuff either on the shelf or next day from the warehouse. Delco, spicer, moog are all fine. I also use RockAuto, just watch out on the shipping, they have stuff in multiple warehouses so multiple shipping charges. The crazy low prices usually covers the shipping and then some but not in all cases.

Thank you members for getting back. I know the guy and his family for awhile. His father passed away several years ago so he took over the repair shop. I did get it back today and everything was good. I did get a little concerned at one point.
