Steering damper install

Was changer the bad damper installed on my truck and was wondering if it should installed over or under the mount. Under didn't look right as it will be hitting rocks and other stuff.. See the before and after and tell me if right or wrong

I put mine on above the mount, seemed to be more inline.

atleast his pics were not shocking to some of us to view .

and yes mount on top for it to move in the same plane as the tie rod does for bind free movement.

come on man!!! a friend told me to install as the old one was..it didnt seem to be right!
