Do I have to torque my steering damper on my 90 5.7 k5 or should I just use german torque gooden'tite

german is fine...

but always keep in mind, ALL fasteners have a proper torque... size, grade and thread dictate any fluctuations.. always good to set the elbow torquewrench in that ballpark... ;)

this is why I dont understand torque im just super confused lmao

I don't remember that particular size.. but it's more than likely in the 3/8 range.. which for grade 5 and 8, 35 to 40 lb's is about the norm...

but for most things other than engine rotating assembly parts, german is fine...

I just wanted to point out that, even tho many things don't have a torque spec per se, every fastener does have a guideline..
