Is there an easy way to tell what kind of fitting I need for my gear side pressure hose? My truck originally was o-ring, but the gear box has been replaced. I pulled the hose and found no o-ring. It may have dissolve or something, and now I'm not certain.

Is the end on the hose flared?

No, but it was weirdly hard to remove, like it had been squeezed into a seal anyway. And no o-ring seemed to be there. I'm pretty sure it's o-ring ring, but not certain.

Do the o ring ones have an inverted cone type thing in there, or only flares?

Cool. For what it's worth, those hoses aren't terribly expensive.

45* flare seat will have a cone down in the ports and most I have seen are brass looking .

o-ring seat will be flat inside and a few machined steps for the o-ring and nut to seat/bottom out on .

Seems to be leak free with an o-ring fitting, as expected. Funny thing is that when I was leaning in there, I spotted the old o-ring on the bottom part of the crossmember. Must have flown over there when I pulled out the old fitting. Mystery solved.
