Hello, first post! Putting together a 1987 K5. BB roller/carb. Dana 60 front axle, 4” lift, high steer (Offroad Design). I need to switch to a freshened up 2wd gearbox and I’m coming up empty. Will 1500 model year pickup box work?

Yes, stick with your model year to make it easy.
All steering boxes are the same for 10 20 and 30 trucks with exceptions to:
Different fittings between early and late. Different input shafts.
Then you have 2x4 and 4x4.
Then somewhere in there a ratio can change I've heard.

The different results from all the various sources have been discussed on here. I don't know where to tell you to look, though. Lots of problems with parts store remanufactured units.
What size tires? Do you have, or plan on getting a front locker? You may want to look at a box that is ported for an assist cylinder, and just cap the ports for now.
Just a thought.
