I'm putting crossover steering on my 1975 blazer and I am looking at a 2wd gearbox from a o ring style 80's up. I have a 5.3 ls that I am swapping in with it's power steering. I am using the stock steering wheel. I still have to get a steering shaft. Would this be a good box to use or would it be better to get the older style?

I swapped the sector shaft from a newer 2wd box into my 75 4wd box to keep my old lines. I have ORD crossover.

If you're looking at a box with o - ring ports, that would be '81 and up. That should be any 2wd truck or suburban.
As already stated, you can swap just the shaft that the pitman arm hooks to, into your box.
I get confused on which is the sector shaft, as I sometimes hear the input shaft called that.

You can swap just the shaft or the whole box. It depends on what works best for your situation.

I put an XJ shaft on my '90, it went in fairly well.
I do know that the input shaft from the column had a different size depending on year of make.

I was wondering about that, I thought I read somewhere that my year range steering column wont work with the xj shaft, but I'm not sure

It just needs modified where it mounts at the firewall. And the 81+ box is the only box that makes sense, paying to have lines made with o-rings on one end and flared on the other is silly.

You can swap the bung in the pumps to allow you to use whatever hose matches the steering box fitting style too..

If I remember correctly the stock ones that came with the 5.3 were o ring style, not sure if they are the right size or if the bends will fit. One of them is kinked anyways. That is a worry for down the road.

I believe that the lower shaft on a '75 column is splined, where a newer one has a "double D". The upper part of the XJ intermediate shaft is double D.

The easy way to tell is, if your column has a clamp bolt, it's splined. If it has a through bolt, it's double D.

Too bad you aren't closer to me! You could have gotten those front springs and I know I have a few extra steering columns! Haha!

I don't know if you would want to change a column for the intermediate shaft, but I guess that would be an option. ..

Yeah that would have been perfect!
Not sure if I want to get a different column or not, it is always an option though
