A friend of mine with a 78 k5 has had some pretty major steering/death wobble issues and he was standing on it rocking the truck side to side and I noticed the steering wheel moved with it. I thought that was kinda wierd but he insisted it was normal. I stood on my truck that drives fine and rocked it back and forth as much as I could. Steering wheel didnt move. Rocked another car back and forth, it didnt move either. Could this be hinting at some problem with his steering that could be causing his issues? His truck goes all over the road over 30-40+ mph and has really bad bump steer.

what kind of suspension does he have?

is his drag link on an angle?
maybe needs a steering brace
is his gearbox loose?
cracked frame?
extra long shackles used?

4" inch lift spring in the front, stock length (same as mine). Yes the draglink is at an angle, but no more so than mine. Stock length shackles. I wouldnt be surprised about cracked frame/loose gearbox but I'd have to look/ask

He probably has bumpsteer. This happens when the suspension hits a bump and moves in a different arc than the steering. Stock k5 steering with a lift is very prone to this. If you lift them and hit the brakes it trys to turn to the right. As the suspension compresses it moves the draglink backwards and turns the truck to the right.

Thats one of the things crossover steering solves
