Steering Problem

Hi I have a 90 k5 with a steering problem. The wheels do not turn as far to the left as the right and it turns to much to the right. I just replaced the steering shaft with one from a jeep and thought the problem could be fixed by trunning the wheel a half turn before installing the new shaft. I found out this has nothing to do with it.

Can I fix this by dropping the steering arm then turning the gear box?

Has the truck been lifted?

The truck is stock. I the guy I got it from hit something on the left side fender. When this happend he replaced some of the steering parts and I think he just didnt adjust gear box or something.

The draglink. The piece between the box and the left knuckle. That will need the adjustment to correct steering center.

I dont know if it is the draglink. I can turn the wheel almost a full turn more to the right then to the left.

Center the steering wheel. Jack up the front of the truck. Adjust the drag link length till the tires are straight.

To properly adjust the draglink you need to turn the steering wheel full lock to the left then counting steering wheel turns turn it full lock to the right, however many turns that takes go back half as many so that the steering box is centered. Don't worry about if the steering wheel is centered as that will be fixed later. Now you need to adjust the draglink so that the tires point straight ahead. Once this is done you can drive it to make sure you have the same turning radius in both directions. Assuming you do and if the steering wheel is not centered properly you can now remove the steering wheel and recenter it.
