allright so we are leaving on sunday for our senior year adventure to baja and after this weekend of wheeling my steering box now screams at full lock and occasionally at other random times. i guess scream is a bit harsh, but it certainly screeches and will stop giving me power steering.

it drives fine on the highway but offroad it stalls and will screech and squeal when some pressure is against it.

considering most of the terrain we will be running is sand i feel better, but it is nonetheless disconcerning.

What should i do?
how much should a good used replacement cost?
ps i have hydroboost cuz its a diesel.
pps i have crossover and highsteer too

help me out agian guys

NAPA shows part number NSP 20840 for 47.99 online w/ hydroboost. Don't know if it would be the same without knowing the year of your vehicle, but should give you an idea of price.

I agree, check the belt. Mine was doing the same when a lil pressure was applied it wouldn't turn- not much a sqeal though. You could see the pump pully starting and stoping under the belt when you applied pressure. Tightened and was much better.

word might be a good idea to change all of your belts before you head into mexico dude

allright sooo heres the deal now... i was about to tighten the belt and i noticed the bracket was cracked at the lower slider. so now i've removed the pump and bracket and it is broken.

now i need to source a new bracket and am wondering which trucks have the same bracket. would it just be deisel trucks or would gas trucks have the same piece?

please help me out i need to get the truck together SOON

Post a pic cuz these were put together with a whole variety of bracket configurations. Can you weld it and make it work till you get back?

thats what i was thinking as well, after calling around and no one having ANY chevy diesels in thier wrecking yards and having one nut tell me he wanted $250 for the labor of pulling it. So now i am going to go down to a friends shop and do our best fixing this thing

allright so i welded it up w/ a mig then added a peice of 1/4" square stock along the side to add some strength. bolted up well, tightened the belts and now my steering is tits

thanks all
