What is the difference between a steering stabilizer and a regular shock?

Can you use a shock in place of a steering stabilizer?

Thanks, Bruiser

Shocks generally have different ends on them and the travel can be different.

I had a shock on mine before I went to 1 tons.

The difference is that a typical shock cannot be run sideways or upside down. They are valved differently. A standard shock is 70/30 while a stabolizer is 50/50.
